Odd Eyes Theatre is looking for a charismatic producer to join the company on the development of Close Up, a new play based on the lives of people living off the grid in UK. This production is a step up in ambition for Odd Eyes and we are looking for a bold, imaginative producer with a passion for strategic planning and an appetite for adventure to help us bring it to life.
Close Up has been shortlisted by the Pleasance Theatre to take part to Litmus Fest, a festival of new work in development taking place in September with rehearsals starting 4 September and final showcases on 28 and 29 September. We want to elaborate the concept of our story through experimental staging using live filming techniques. Live music and soundscape will support the narrative expanding on the form already tested in #Haters, our latest production.
To achieve our aims, we envision three main stages of development including participatory activities which will be delivered as part of the writing research, the devising of live filming and live music. This development cycle will culminate in a production touring in Summer 2018.
The Producer role will involve taking responsibility for the planning and smooth delivery of the development of Close Up. The Producer will manage all project logistics, ensure the project is delivered within the agreed budget, work closely with the Artistic Director to secure funding and partnerships with venues and festivals for the life of the project. We are looking for a Producer who is passionate about new writing and experimental theatre and strongly believes in the value of theatre with contemporary themes, that reaches out to diverse audiences.
Whilst this is an initial, short-term engagement, our aim is to secure funds to continue collaborating with the Producer, and develop Close Up into a UK and international tour.
We’re looking for someone with:
• At least three years’ experience working professionally as a Producer
• Experience of producing new writing
• Knowledge and experience of small-scale national touring
• Experience of international touring or an interest in developing skills as
an international producer
• Experience of successful Arts Council fundraising (essential)
• Experience of diversified fundraising
• Excellent communicator
• Experience of project development
